Being Christlike

$14.97

Being Christlike differs from the “Imitation of Christ” advocated by Thomas à Kempis in his spiritual classic. Imitation suggests that we can do something in our own strength and volition to become like Christ. Just the opposite is true. Trying to be like Christ is effort but not surrender, trying but not trusting, believing something instead of believing Someone, and forsaking self instead of trying to save one’s self.

Being Christlike is being changed from glory to glory. As the glory of God, Jesus Christ becomes the clothing that dresses us, the words that come out of us, the feelings inspired by His Spirit within us, and the actions doing only what the Father would have us do and saying only what the Father would have us say.

Becoming Christlike happens when the power of the Holy Spirit makes a nobody somebody; a worldly, wise person a fool for Christ; a master into a servant; a sick person well; and a poor person rich.

This book is a journey with every chapter being an invitation to know Him more intimately. We invite you to follow Jesus the Christ, the living Son of God; to embrace the Holy Spirit who infinitely empowers us; and to commune with the loving Father who invites us to kiss His face. Come, journey with us…together let us take up His Cross and follow Him into eternity.

Being Christlike

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory,
are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Most believers have a sincere desire to be like Jesus. However, they cannot accomplish this spiritual task in their own strength. Further, they fail to see the powerful help Jesus provided when He gave us the Holy Spirit. Authors Dr. David Garcia and Dr. Larry Keefauver unlock the secrets contained in the fruit of the Spirit which transform defeat into spiritual dominance and impossible battles into unstoppable victories. The workbook style of this manuscript makes it “user friendly” for both new disciples and seasoned veterans of the Faith. It is a joy to commend and recommend this book. “If your asked 1,000 Christians what Christian Character is, you would get 1,000 different answers based on every fleeting fad of ethical standards. I am so happy that my good friend Dr. David Garcia has so clearly identified Christlikeness as the true standard in his new book, “Being Christlike.” This book is so well written by first acknowledging we must live this life from the Spirit within us to govern our lives outside of us. He then follows with a marvelous teaching on the fruit of the Spirit with very practical application through a workbook like application to real life issues. I highly recommend this book to every true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.” —Douglas J. Wingate, Ph.D., President and Founder of Life Christian University
