Description
Jesus declared that He would build His church. Church is translated from the Greek word Ekklesia. Dr. Amsden’s book, Ekklasia: Kingdom Government in Operation, examines in detail Christ’s proclamation. The historical background upon which the statement rested, and the mandate upon the church to respond to His decree. Reading the pages of this remarkable book will not only impart understanding but will result in the believer being empowered to arise and fulfill his or her call to function as a vital member of the Ekklesia of Christ.
The study of the biblical structure and operation of the church is called ecclesiology. Ecclesiology comes from the word ecclesia, which is the Latin word that is translated church in English. All Bible school and seminary students are required to study this discipline. The book of Acts and the New Testament epistles have much to say about elders, deacons, leaders, congregants, sacraments, policies and other such things related to internal church protocols. I studied these things, learned these things, and practiced these things. This book will not denigrate or belittle the functions of the historic church. It will not contest with what has been but will seek to describe and define the governmental or governing aspect of church in the hope to help clarify the mission and advance the effectiveness of Christ’s people.
